Over 300 youth from across the region came out for a recent youth event held in the Shiretown. Tell The World-A Special Night for Youth, held on Friday, October 14th from 6 pm to 10:30 pm at the Carleton Civic Centre, welcomed young men and women and youth leaders from churches between Lower Brighton and Perth-Andover.
It was evident upon the arrival of The Shiretown Blogger at the event that there would be an enormous turnout. A bus from Perth-Andover was parked in front of the civic centre, and the overwhelming crowd was lined up outside the front doors to Woodstock's recreation complex. Events such as this allow youth groups to be well-represented, and they are an opportunity for old friends to reunite and new friendships to be made, while celebrating Christ at the same time.
The youth gathered in the civic centre lobby to pay the small $5.00 admission fee, and were given color-coded bracelets to distinguish the groups they would be placed in for activities. They then filed into the community room to take in presentations from youth leaders. The Woodstock Wesleyan Church Crossfire Youth Group band performed some songs, and there were also presentations and skits from the Moncton-based Harvest Youth Missions, which includes youth who hail from Woodstock.
Delicious cookies and juice were provided at snack time, and there was ice skating and a glow swim. The Shiretown Blogger wishes to extend a thank you to the event's organizers and the dedicated volunteers who set aside any other plans they had for their Friday night to help out at the event. It takes a massive amount of planning and work to pull off events at this scale, but it is all worth it in the end, as these events are clearly enjoyed by all.
