The Shiretown Blogger recognizes (and cannot emphasize enough) the importance of acknowledging Remembrance Day on November 11th. It is crucial that you do not forget the harsh conditions endured and the ultimate sacrifices made by an endless amount of brave men and women in two world wars and several other combat missions. These individuals fought hard, representing their hometowns, provinces, and their nations. They fought for the endless freedoms taken for granted by many.
I ask that you do not take these freedoms for granted. Many nations continue to fight for the vast amount of freedoms Canada is fortunate to have. Many brave soldiers continue to make the ultimate sacrifice while fighting for Canada, and for other nations.
Wear a poppy in the days leading up to and including Remembrance Day. Attend a ceremony at the cenotaph or soldiers' memorial in your community. If, for whatever reason, you are unable to take in the community remembrance ceremonies, take a moment of silence at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, and remember the sacrifices that have been made and continue to be made--for you. Do not forget the veterans who were lucky enough to return home, and that witnessed harsh conditions and tragedies that no civilian can imagine.
Lest we forget.
