Woodstock Slammers' assistant captain and defenseman Tim Campbell was recently recognized as the Maritime Junior Hockey League's top defenseman.

A native of Thornhill, Ontario, Campbell can boast 17 goals and 55 assists (72 total points) in 45 games played with the Slammers. Campbell finished the 2011-2012 season in second place in points for the squad.

Campbell also racked up 162 total penalty minutes during the regular season, and already has two penalty minutes under his belt as he prepares for game two of the semi-final round of the Kent Cup Playoffs.

Campbell has given it his all in every playing situation, proving that he is dependable as a D-man in offensive and defensive situations.

"We're very proud of Tim's accomplishment," Slammers head coach Jason Tatarnic said of Tim's recognition. "Tim plays in all situations, and in my opinion, is the best defenseman I've seen play in the MHL during my time and one of my best players overall."

"It has been a pleasure to have the opportunity to coach Tim this season."
