Shiretown Field receiving new scoreboard, wi-fi, speakers and upgraded bleachers in preparation for summer baseball season

Woodstock's Shiretown Field in the heart of Connell Park is anticipating some major upgrades in the near future.

The field, which has been home to significant Woodstock baseball squads in the past, will receive a new scoreboard, along with new speakers, wireless internet, and upgraded bleachers in preparation for the 2012 summer baseball campaign.

The new sound system is being provided by Currie's Audio Video Unlimited. The wireless internet will come from Xplornet and Media Smart, and the bleacher improvements will be carried out by the Town of Woodstock.

With help from local businesses, the canteen at Shiretown Field will be operating during home games.

Kirk's Satellite has also provided new uniforms for the squad.

Jake Smith is president of the Western Valley Minor Baseball Association. He expressed excitement with the changes to CJ 104 radio.

Smith also told CJ 104 that these changes to Shiretown Field add to the field and squad's popularity.
