Former car dealer becomes place of worship

A longtime Woodstock car dealership has recently been made into a church. The former L.G. Wilson Motors building became Forward Church earlier this year.

Former L.G. Wilson Motors building. Taken in 2009 from Phillips Drive. The barbed wire fence is part of the remains of the Irving Oil bulk plant which once stood here.

Forward Church, a non-denominational Christian place of worship, was founded by Ryan and Amy Tompkins in 2010. The church held its first service on August 1, 2010 in the former NB Liquor location in Woodstock's downtown.

In April, the church relocated to the former home of L.G. Wilson Motors. The car dealership was sold in December 2008 to CYV Chevrolet, and the building sat vacant until now. Forward Church moved here to make way for Kelley's Green, a used-clothing store which opened on April 23, 2011.

Forward Church's target is the younger population, however, anyone is welcome to join in and worship.
