Today marks one decade since planes struck the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre in New York City

September 11, 2001
It was ten years ago today that terrorists flew hijacked airplanes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing 3,000 innocent people, and injuring many more. A plane was also flown into the Pentagon, the home of several United States government offices. The series of terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 led to increased security measures at Canada/US border crossings, airports and even seaports. These terrorist attacks may even be a key factor in the necessity of passports in today's world of travel.

The Shiretown Blogger wishes to pay tribute to the many who lost their lives in this tragic event in history. Please remember those innocent people whose lives were cut short by the selfishness and hatred of these terrorists. If you forget the mistakes (and deliberate actions) of our past, then history may repeat itself.
