Slammers down Tigers in narrow OT win

The Woodstock Slammers downed the Campbellton Tigers 4-3 in overtime on Wednesday, January 11, 2012.

Slammers' enforcers Colton Stairs and Jake Logan are currently serving suspensions (Stairs serving ten games and Logan serving eight). Chris Rygus has a knee injury, and netminder Sam Renault has a couple of fractured fingers.

Mackenzie Brown also suffered a concussion during the squad's Nova Scotia road trip last weekend.

The severely-shorthanded Slammers allowed the first goal of the game. The goal was netted on a power play by Christopher Caissy of the Tigers early in the contest at 3:18.

Andrew Schriver got the Slammers on the board and tied the game at 1-1 at 5:39.

J.J. Allison restored the lead for the Tigers at 7:17. The match was tied at two when Brett MacLean put the rubber between the posts at 11:16. 

After a scoreless second period, Slammers assistant captain Robert Visca scored for the Slammers at 14:31 in the third. Alex Blais scored an unassisted goal at 19:44, tying the game at three and forcing sudden death overtime. 

At 4:36 in the overtime period, Nick Huard scored the Slammers' game-winning goal. 


The Slammers' next home game is scheduled for Friday, January 13th, 2012, at the Carleton Civic Centre. They will face the Weeks Crushers at 7:30 pm.
