The Woodstock Slammers welcomed the new year with a road trip. The Slammers were victorious for two of three games on the road trip.
On Friday, January 6th, the Slammers visited the CIBC Wood Gundy Lumberjacks of Bridgewater. Woodstock topped the Lumberjacks 5-2.
The scoring was opened by Brett MacLean at 13:20. Travis Fernley and Mackenzie Brown got the assist.

Mackenzie Brown assisted the first goal of the game against the Bridgewater Lumberjacks on Friday, January 6th. In 26 games with the Slammers, Brown has scored 5 goals and 4 assists. He also affiliates with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL.
Ben Miller also scored a power play goal in the first period at 15:34.
Bridgewater's first goal of the game was netted by Michael Crawley at 2:58 in period two.
The Slammers' game-winning goal was netted by captain Andrew Langan at 16:59 in the third period. Woodstock netminder Sam Renault refused 28 out of 30 shots in the winning effort.
On Saturday, January 7th, the Woodstock Slammers beat the Yarmouth Junior A Mariners 6-5 in a shootout. After a scoreless first period, the scoring was opened with a goal netted by Slammers' winger and assistant captain Robert Visca on the power play at 5:40 in the second period. Andrew Langan and Evan Carmody also scored for the Slammers in the second period.
The first Mariners player to put the rubber past the line was defense man and captain Andrew Walker. Walker scored on the power play at 14:52 in the second period.
Woodstock native and former Slammers player Matt Tomah also scored a power play goal for Yarmouth at 15:30.
Evan Carmody scored another goal for the Slammers only fifty seconds into the third period. The final goal for Woodstock in regulation was netted by Philip Fife at 15:57.
The shootout winner was scored by Tim Campbell.
On Sunday, January 8th, the Slammers fell 8-3 to the Metro Marauders of Dartmouth.
Justin Belanger scored two goals for the Marauders in the contest.
The first goal for the Slammers was netted by Ben Miller eight minutes into the second period. Miller scored the second Slammers' goal as well. Both of Miller's goals were scored on the power play, with the second one crossing the line at 14:52.
Connor Tresham put the rubber between the posts for the third time for Woodstock at 8:24 in the third period. Tresham's goal was also a power-play goal.
The Slammers' overall record is currently 33-3-0-1, and they continue to rest atop of the Meek Division standings.
The next Slammers' home game is scheduled for Wednesday, January 11th at 7:30 pm at the Carleton Civic Centre. They will face the Campbellton Tigers. |
