Woodstock Slammers News






The Woodstock Slammers of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League (MHL) have been undefeated for six games so far in the 2011-2012 season. After a 5-1 victory over the Miramichi Timberwolves at their home opener on September 16th, the Slammers took a three-game road trip, defeating the Yarmouth Mariners 3-1 on Friday, September 23rd. They also spanked the CIBC Wood Gundy Lumberjacks by five points with a final score of 6-1 on Saturday, September 24th, and got another five-goal win over the Metro Marauders with a total score of 7-2 on Sunday, September 25th.

The Campbellton Tigers were no match for the Shiretown side on Wednesday, September 28th, as they received a 5-3 (?) whipping from the Slammers. The Slammers also unveiled new sweaters at Wednesday night's game.

Mackenzie Brown, #9, is in grade eleven at Woodstock High School this year and is billeting with Derrick and Debi O'Leary. He played six games with the Saint John Sea Dogs while their players who have been drafted to the NHL were playing in NHL exhibition. Brown returned to the Slammers on Wednesday night.
On Friday, September 30th, the local side gave the Miramichi Timberwolves a 6-3 beating. The Woodstock Slammers' next home game is set for tomorrow (Sunday, October 2nd) at 3:30 pm at the Carleton Civic Centre in Woodstock.
